U.S. stocks on Friday chalked up Wall Street’s worst week in more than two years as shaken investors contended with a world of economic worries.
“People are worried about liquidity and where the economy is going and don’t see any sort of life preserver as yet,” said Doug Roberts, chief investment strategist at Channel Capital Research.
On Friday, not even a better-than-expected July jobs report, which included upward revisions to May and June and a drop in the unemployment rate to 9.1%, “could calm markets suspecting a snowballing crisis,” noted Beth Ann Bovino, senior economist at Standard & Poor’s.
